English for Kids : Pancakes, Pancakes

A hands-on lesson learning the ingredients of making pancake and actually making one!

Eric Carle's Pancakes, Pancakes is perfect for little ones'  first cooking lesson.

Besides making a real pancake. We made a paper plate pancake and decorated it with berries (dot labels).

To introduce them to the alphabets, I used a pan, spatula and carton alphabet pancakes (P-A-N-C-A-K-E), and made a little game out of it. They need to scoop an alphabet and name it. As simple as that!

To end the lesson, we learned this rhyme and I threw a towel (pretend pancake) into the air at the last sentence "Catch it if you can". The children had to catch it before it falls on the ground.
