Chinese as Second Language / Chinesisch als Fremdsprache

The most intensive Chinese lesson so far!

It was a really fun-packed lesson on Saturday.

As I just came back from vacation, I focused on revising the previous lessons with the children, just to refresh their memory.

The lesson had three parts:

First, Chopsticks Challenge. I taught them how to use chopsticks and how to make learning chopsticks using kitchen towel and a rubber band. We had a competition fetching maispops from one basket to another. The kids tried so hard to do it. Salute!

Second, Food Challenge. I filled bowls with tasty food like gummy bears, chocolate and bread; and with 'yucky' food like spring onion and orange peel. They are then covered with poker cards. Students have to choose a number, naming them in Chinese, "I want no.8; 我要八"。 Then they have to taste the food and express whether it's tasty "Tasty / Yucky; 好吃 / 不好吃" and whether they like it "Like it / Don't like it; 喜欢 / 不喜欢"。

Third, DIY Board Game. The purpose is for revision of numbers. They have to make a numbered board game and decorate it with stickers. Two children decided to write the numbers in Chinese, it was an encouraging moment for me to see them motivated to learn.
Lastly, they have to say the numbers in Mandarin before they leave.

The best part of the lesson is to see them learn happily and enthusiastically.
