"The Mixed-Up Chameleon" is a story about a chameleon who wants to be a little bit of everything, a seal, a flamingo, a giraffe and so on.
It is a colorful book and the illustration of a confused chameleon appeal to little children.
I made a little 'mixed-up puzzle' game with all the animals in the book and let the children make their own mixed-up animal.
For craft time we played with paints in a ziplock bag, with a chameleon drawn on it. I also explained the concept of camouflage to the little ones.
Of course snack time is the best of all. We made a fruits rainbow with kiwis, watermelons and bell peppers. This helps the to learn colors different animals in the book.
We concluded with worksheet time as usual. =D
For the children, the take away message of this lesson is to be happy with who you are. Always wanting to be someone else may not make you very happy.
